Tragic Fire at Rajkot Gaming Zone Claims 27 Lives, Including 9 Children

Rajkot, Gujarat: A devastating fire engulfed a gaming zone in Rajkot on Saturday evening, resulting in the loss of twenty-seven lives, including nine children, according to officials. The incident has prompted a swift relief and rescue operation in the area.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vinayak Patel stated, “The bodies have been severely charred, making identification difficult.” The owners of the gaming zone have been detained by the police for questioning.

Expressing profound grief over the incident, Darshita Shah, MLA of Rajkot West, remarked, “Today marks a tragic chapter in Rajkot’s history, with a fire in a gaming zone claiming multiple lives, including innocent children. Our priority lies in rescuing as many individuals as possible. Those found negligent will face necessary government action.” A compensation of ₹4 lakh has been announced for the families of the victims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences, stating, “Extremely distressed by the fire mishap in Rajkot. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. Prayers for the injured.”

President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her sympathies, saying, “I am deeply anguished to learn of the loss of lives in a fire accident at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat. My heart goes out to the families who have lost their near and dear ones, including young children.”

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed officials to prioritize the immediate treatment of the injured and will be visiting the site tomorrow morning.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized, “Instructions have been given to the Municipal Corporation and the administration for immediate rescue and relief operations in the fire incident in the gaming zone in Rajkot. Officials have also been instructed to prioritize arrangements for immediate treatment of the injured.”

Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava provided updates on the rescue efforts, stating, “The rescue operations are ongoing, with approximately 20 bodies recovered so far. Investigations into the cause of the fire will be conducted. The gaming zone is owned by Yuvraj Singh Solanki.”

Commissioner Bhargava added, “The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. Rescue operations are underway, with multiple fire engines deployed. Further discussions will be held with fire brigade officials regarding necessary actions.”
